Transfer to hotel and rest. Later enjoy sightseeing tour in Delhi visiting Lotus temple & Qutub Minar. Take a walk in vegetable market and learn about Indian cuisine. In the evening experience puja at local temple dedicated to goddess Kali. Discover how this powerful deity encompasses all opposites: life & death, motherliness & destruction, beauty & ugliness, and how she helps to overcome the darkness of ignorance by illuminating believers with divine light and true wisdom.
Delhi - Leh
Morning flight to Leh and transfer to hotel. Rest of the day is free acclimatizing to high altitude of Ladakh. Take a walk in Leh market savouring salted butter tea and tastiest momo dumplings.
Visit Shey monastery famous for giant statue of Buddha and beautiful wall paintings. In old days Shey village was a summer retreat of the kings of Ladakh. Later proceed to Thiksey, which has one of the largest and architecturally most impressive monastic complexes in Ladakh.You will also visit the wealthiest and largest monastery in Ladakh - Hemis. It is also a location of the annual Hemis festival – one of Ladakh's most famous religious celebrations.
Today visit Shanti Stupa located on a hilltop where great panoramic views of Leh can be seen. It was built to promote world peace and prosperity, as well as to commemorate 2500 years of Buddhism. Later visit Shankar monastery which belongs to the newest sect in Buddhism - Gelugpa. Rest of the day at leisure for acclimatization and rest.
Leh - Alchi
Drive to the beautiful village of Alchi. En route stop at the confluence of two great Himalayan rivers - Indus and Zanskar. Visit Likir monastery established in 11th CE and nearby monastery school. Here you can chat with students and have apricot or lemon tea. On arrival in Alchi, take a walk around the village. A lot of grenery is there, because of nearby Indus river.
In the morning visit Alchi monastery which was built between 10-11th CE. Inside you will see the oldest murals in Ladakh representing the peak of Ladakh's Indo-Tibetan art. Excursion to Lamayuru monastery. It was founded where 11th CE mystic Naropa meditated. Before that the area was at the bottom of a giant lake. You will see a moon-like landscape surrounding the monastery.
Alchi - Leh
Drive to Leh. En route visit Pathar Sahib Gurudwara constructed in memory of Guru Nanak. He was the founder of sikh faith. This sikh temple is famous for the rock which was thrown by demon towards Guru Nanak. On arrival in Leh, free time at leisure.
Leh - Khardongla - Hunder
Drive from Leh to Nubra Valley. The average altitude of the valley is about 3048 m. En route stop at Khardung La - one of highest motorable passes in the world (5359 m). Continue driving to Diskit - the capital of Nubra Valley and visit Diskit Gompa. Stay at nearby resort where Shyok river is flowing. Evening at leisure.
Jodhpur - UdaipurHunder - Nubra
Morning drive to Panamik and take a bath in hot springs there. Later proceed to a very remote Insa monastery where only one monk lives. Take a short hike up the hill and visit the monastery. Hopefully, a monk will also be there to chat and have tea. Before going back to the resort, take a bactrian camel ride on sand dunes.
Nubra - Leh
Before leaving Nubra, get up early and go for morning prayers in Diskit monastery. Drive back to Leh. At leisure.
Leh - Sarchu
Drive to Sarchu via Upshi, crossing Tanglangla Pass. Enjoy majestic views of the mountains before continuing through the plains, where you can see colonies of marmots and herds of yaks. Stop for lunch at Pang, and later continue to Lachungla pass. At Sarchu, stay overnight in tents at elevation of 4200 m.
Sarchu - Manali
Sarchu lies on the border between Jammu, Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh. After 20 km drive you enter Himachal Pradesh and reach Baralachala pass. Enjoy beautiful views of Surajtal, a sacred lake, and pass through the tiny village of Darcha. Further on, at Jispa, you can visit a new monastery which was specially built for His Holiness the Dalai Lama. Continue the drive to Manali, stopping for lunch at Khoksar. Ascend towards Rohtang Pass and reach Manali.
Marvel at Nicholas Roerich's Art Gallery. This famous Russian artist, spiritual teacher and mystic has left a treasure of paintings, literature works, archaeological and scholarly research. Together with his wife N. Roerich founded the Theosophical Agni yoga community to spread his ideas and philosophy of everyday life. Visit Naggar Castle. An open restaurant there has breathtaking views of mountain villages. On the way back to Leh visit Jagatipatt Temple and enjoy intriguing wood carvings.
Manali - Delhi
Morning trek through villages and green valleys where animals are enjoying morning sun and shepherds are making tea on small bonfires. Later take a bath at Vashisht thermal waters. They have incredible healing powers. Enjoy peaceful aura of Old Manali strolling through the streets and tasting ginger lemon tea. Overnight bus to Delhi.
Transfer to hotel. In the afternoon go for a tour in Old Delhi: stop near Jama Masjid, take a rickshaw ride in Chandni Chowk market and visit Jain temple. Later go to Dilli Haat - a treasure house of Indian culture, handicrafts and ethnic cuisine. It will transport you to the magical world of Indian art and heritage presented through fascinating panorama of crafts, cuisine and cultural activities.
Flight home with great memories.
