Delhi – Ajmer - Pushkar
Discover the delights of Pushkar, one of the most famous Hindu pilgrimage sites and home to more than 400 temples. Devotees come here in large numbers to bathe in sacred Brahma lake. Day at leisure to explore local temples. In the evening watch sun & sand dunes dancing during camel ride in Thar desert. Later visit ghats (steps leading to Brahma lake) and local markets.
Early morning climb to Ratnagiri hill to visit Savitri temple. Enjoy sunrise worship chants, aromatic masala tea and magnificent view of Pushkar town wakening up. Later drive to the capital city of Rajasthan - Jaipur. Visit City Palace museum, which has splendid royal collections. You will also see the awe-inspiring 18th century Jantar Mantar observatory and enjoy a photo stop near spectacular Palace of Winds.
Jaipur - Agra
In the morning take elephant ride to Amer fort. Enter the fort to admire magnificent interiors and exquisite wall paintings, as well as intricate ivory, mirror and glass work. Leave Jaipur by road to Agra. On the way stop at 9th CE Abhaneri village, which has one of the deepest and largest stepwells in India - unique invention of Abhaneri people for harvesting rainwater. Continue to Agra, capital of the grand Mughal Empire in 16-17th CE.
Agra - Mcleodganj
Visit the world famous mausoleum of Taj Mahal. Built by emperor Shahjahan in memory of his beloved queen, Taj Mahal is perfectly proportioned and distinctively feminine. Dazzling white during the day, monument's marble exterior reflects rose and golden tints at sunrise and sunset. Explore the interiors of impressive Agra Fort. Later dtake an overnight train to Chakki Bank. This is the way how Mahatma Gandhi discovered India. So, whether in luxury or rubbing shoulders with majority, a journey on train is truly breathing Indian life. Morning arrive at Chakki Bank train station and transfer to McLeod Ganj - residence of His Holiness Dalai Lama and headquarters of exiled Tibetan Government. On the way cross Dharamsala town known as Little Lhasa. Take a walk to magnificent Bhagsu waterfall and a temple with water tank where a lot of locals enjoy swimming. Later marvel at treasures of Tibet Museum. Evening spend strolling through unique Tibetan markets.
Learn to quiet your mind in Tushita Meditation Centre. Visit Norbulingka Institute established to preserve and teach ancient Tibetan arts. Built in traditional Tibetan style, it is set in a beautiful garden with winding paths, sparkling streams, tinkling waterfalls, bridges, and ponds. Here, you can see crafts such as wood carving, thangkha painting, goldsmithing and embroidery being done. Later visit Tsuglagkhang Complex, Namgyal Gompa and Dip-Tse-Cho-Ling Monastery.
Morning drive through serine tea gardens to Palampur. On the way stop to admire the largest fort in Himalayas - Kangra fort. Observe tea making process in Palampur tea gardens and tea factory. Enjoy majestic views walking through rustic village and savor freshly made Himalayan Kangra tea.
Palampur - Bir - Solang
Drive to visit Bir monasteries. Enjoy the views of majestic Himalayas surrounded by tea gardens and visit Buddhist monasteries to see fine Tibetan handicrafts produced in front of you.
Solang - Naggar - Solang
Marvel at Nicholas Roerich's Art Gallery. This famous Russian artist, spiritual teacher and mystic, has left a treasure of paintings, literature works, archaeological and scholarly research. Together with his wife N. Roerich founded the Theosophical Agni yoga community to spread his ideas and philosophy of everyday life. Visit Naggar Castle characteristic of Himachal architecture - stone and wood combination. From an open restaurant in the castle a breathtaking panorama of mountain villages is seen. On the way back visit Jagatipatt Temple and enjoy intriguing wood carvings.
Solang – Manali – Delhi
Morning trek through waking villages and lush green valleys where animals enjoy rising sun and shepherds make tea on small bonfires. Later visit Vashisht thermal waters. They have incredible healing powers: according to mythology water came to this place after Lakshman's arrow fell there. Stroll on streets of Old Manali and taste traditional drink of Himachal - ginger mint tea. Overnight bus to Delhi.
After arrival to Delhi rest at hotel. Visit historic Hauz Khas area, which now became a modern location accommodating a number of art galleries, lovely shops and restaurants. Here you will have free time for lunch and walking around. You might want to buy some gifts? Dilli Haat is the place you need. Later visit Jama Masjid - the 2nd largest mosque in India and take a famous ride in narrow streets of Old Delhi by rickshaw. Say goodbye to Old Delhi in Jain temple decorated with extremely colorful and well maintained frescoes.
