Delhi - Amritsar
Arrive at international airport and transfer to hotel. Rest at hotel and later see one of the endangered professions of India - washermen splashing water, scrubbing piles of clothes, hanging and drying them on the lines. After lunch set off on the tain journey to Amritsar, the Holy City. On arrival at Amritsar transfer to hotel and rest.
After breakfast visit Golden Temple, Sikhism's holiest shrine, founded in 1577. This is a place of great beauty and serenity that welcomes people of all faiths. Stunning golden sanctum, reflected in waters of the holy tank and flanked by spotlessly clean marble walkways and pavements is a breathtaking sight. Later visit Jalianwala Bagh, a historic monument that tells the tragic story of mass killings during the Independence movement in India. In the evening you will be taken to Wagah Border, on the Indo-Pakistan border to see the dramatic Changing of the Guards and flag ceremonies. They are performed with great skill and precision by the border security forces of both India and Pakistan. This is a sight you cannot miss.
Amritsar – Mcleodganj
Morning after breakfast leave for breathtaking mountain capes which greet you while entering McLeod Ganj, the residence of His Holiness Dalai Lama and headquarters of exiled Tibetan Government. On the way cross Dharamsala town known as "Little Lhasa". Later visit local Tibetan market and headquarters of Dalai Lama's residence. The magnificent monastery here has splendid images of Buddha, Padmasambhava and Avalokiteshwara.
Learn to quite your mind in Tushita Meditation Centre. Visit Norbulingka Institute, established to preserve and teach the ancient Tibetan arts. Built in traditional Tibetan style, it’s set in a beautiful garden with winding paths, sparkling streams, tinkling waterfalls, bridges, and ponds.
Here, you can see crafts such as wood carving, thangkha painting, goldsmithing and embroidery being done. Later visit Tsuglagkhang Complex, Namgyal Gompa, Dip-Tse-Cho-Ling Monastery and Tibetan Museum. Overnight at Resort.
Leave Mcleod Ganj after early breakfast and take a walk through mixed forest of oak, rhododendron and deodar trees. This is the most popular day hike. The trail is well marked all the way up to Triund. From Mcleod Ganj it is 3/4 hours steep ascent to Triund. Small tea shops on the way provide good refreshments. After light lunch at Triund start descending to McLeod Ganj.
Mcleodganj – Palampur
Morning enjoy drive through tea gardens to Palampur. On the way stop to admire the largest fort in Himalayas - Kangra fort. Observe tea making process in Palampur tea gardens and tea factory. Enjoy majestic views walking through rustic village and savour freshly made Himalayan Kangra tea.
PALAMPUR - EXCURSION TO BIR
Day excursion to visit Bir monasteries. Enjoy the views of majestic Himalayas surrounded by tea gardens and visit Buddhist monasteries to see fine Tibetan handicrafts produced in front of you.
Palampur – Solang
The way to Solang is through magnificent pine forests. Reach Kullu Valley knowns as "the valley of Gods". On the way visit shawl factory to see traditional Himalayan weaving and visit Mandi village stretched on the mountain riverbank. Later reach one of the main cities in Kullu- Manali. Take a walk in the city center, taste local juice or wine produced from a huge variety of local fruits. Reach your hotel situated in one of the most picturesque and serene places near Manali - Solang.
Solang- Nagar Castle- Solang
Visit Nicholas Roerich's Art Gallery. This famous Russian artist, spiritual teacher and mystic has left a treasure of paintings, literature works, archaeological and scholarly research. His works were the base for creating the organization of UNESCO. Together with his wife he founded the Theosophical Agni yoga community to spread his ideas and philosophy of everyday life. Visit Naggar Castle, which is characteristic of Himachal architecture - stone and wood building combination. From the open restaurant in the castle a breathtaking panorama of mountain villages is seen. On the way back to Solang visit Jagatipatt Temple to enjoy intrigue wood carvings.
A day to spend near Beas mountain river and witness Himalayan village life in slow and peaceful rhythm. Afternoon take a heavenly ride on the ropeway to Mt. Phatru at an elevation of 3200 m, its breathtaking views are once in a lifetime experience. Free time to try paragliding.
Solang – Manali – Delhi
Early morning track to enjoy sunrise. Later visit Old Manali, which is famous for hippie jewellery and woolens - sweaters, shawls, gloves. Enjoy colorful market while sipping delicious ginger lemon tea. Late afternoon board the coach for overnight journey to Delhi. Overnight on coach.
Arrive and ransfer to hotel. Full day sightseeing tour of Old and New Delhi. Visit Jama Masjid, take a rickshaw ride in Chandni Chowk market, stop near Jain temple. Drive past India Gate and President's House. Visit Dilli Haat - a treasure house of Indian culture, handicrafts and ethnic cuisine. It is a traditional village market that transports you to the magical world of Indian art and heritage presented through a fascinating panorama of craft, cuisine and cultural activities.In the evening take part in a unique ritual - mysterious Goddess Kali worship. Overnight at hotel.
Transfer to Delhi airport to board a flight home with great memories.
